Structure
The structure decided finally is a truncated torus of 1.1km radius and 290m width. The maximum height possible for a building is 130m and the sky will be at a height of 145m. The maximum width for a building is a approx. 200m. The structure will consist of another small torus and a cylindrical centre. They will be joined using a set of tubes etc.

Model Proposal
This is a model proposal I found on the arssdc website, please have a look at your respective sub-topics to get an idea of the level of work expected.

Transportation
This is a doc on how to transport cargo & people to Mars within 45 days as opposed to the current 6 months. All of these concepts are currently in the theoretical stage (for long journeys) , but are viable enough to be developed for the large scale transportation of both cargo & transport to Mars rapidly.

Budgeting
I know we all have gr8 ideas on how to cut down on costs in all depts., but how to raise the initial budget for materials & construction of the Space City itself (Not to mention the cost of transporting at least 20,000 people)?? Even as far back as 1989 when George H.W. Bush suggested a manned trip to Mars, with a handful of astronauts, the cost came out to be over $450 billion, just to get them there.
In this day & time, & especially in the future, after inflation, more extensive protection, faster & better technology, & the scale of the project itself, the cost would be well into the trillions(!!).
So, any members who have a viable source of budgeting the project (other than the money taken from citizens) would be welcome to submit their ideas along with the figures in the meetings.
P.S. Plz. contribute as ideas are scarce

WTF's 'Sex Ratio Gage[sic]' ?????????????
Ok. One of the sub-topics in Human Factors is 'Sex Ratio Gage', for which I am responsible. Now, two questions:
1) What does 'gage' mean???
2) Assuming 'gage' is a part of a word, the remainder of which was omitted in the Xerox, why do we even need to CARE about sex ratio? Seriously. The year's 2055, our entire clientele is elite, educated and wealthy. What's more, pre-natal sex determination will be CATEGORICALLY banned on Aresam. Seeing as even now, the world's educated countries don't face alarmingly skewed sex ratios, I really don't see what the entire point is about.

P.S. Housing hasn't been included as a sub-topic in Human. Why?????????????????????????? It's one of THE most major topics in Human in the Request for Proposal.

Computing and a bit of communications
Computing
Why we need computing power on the space city?:
1.Calculate light, temperature and pressure conditions from time to time, to update the security systems(including security watches, news channels etc.)
2.To route communications throughout the space city.
3.To calculate trajectories of any external bodies approaching the space city.
4.Keep track of vital stats such as Earth time, food supplies and energy usage.
Solutions
For the problems that will not cause any immediate hazards to the space city or it's citizens, I propose we use cloud computing. In this manner, we will cut down on costs, reduce amount of computing power actually required on the space city, and it will also allow upscaling of computing power if and when required(maybe during a disaster or peak time)
For other uses I propose that we have a permanent onboard super computer, that will help in mitigation as well as day to day computing needs of citizens.
Communications
Internal
I propose that we have a bid for an onboard telecommunications network, since a telecom network is necessary for psychological reasons and the bid will also account for some of the funding that we are looking for.
The Dacia's project had a brilliant onboard communication system with 8 key points spread out throughout the space city acting as routers.
Ps:please read and COMMENT on the feasibility and practicality since they have not been kept in mind while proposing this.
